The village of Culdaff is preparing to celebrate the 25th Charles Macklin Autumn School, first opened in 1990 by Brian Friel. With the Wild Atlantic Way as a backdrop, Culdaff will host a guided walk, lectures, music, storytelling, an art exhibition, and a book launch with the introduction of pub theatre for the first time presented by Bocan Drama Group. The week-end opens in McGrorys on Friday 10 October at 7 .30 pm when Donegal Arts Officer Traolach O Fionnain will perform the opening ceremony, which will be followed by a reception and traditional music. Brian Friel remains patron of the School.

A full programme is available on Saturday starting with a guided walk with Dessie McCallion. In the afternoon, Clonmay man, Des Kavanagh will recall his long friendship with Seamus Heaney and the evening will be topped off with a night of music and song with the Henry Girls before they embark on their German tour.

Exhibitions continue of Sunday and will include a sale of new and antiquarian books. Storytelling runs throughout the weekend in the bars.
